Lineage Eternal is a medieval fantasy, massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) released in the US in 1998 by the developer of the South Korean computer game NCsoft. It is the first game of the Lineage series. It is most popular in Korea and is available in Chinese, Japanese, and English-language versions. The game was designed by Jake Song, who had already designed Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds, another MMORPG.
Lineage features 2D isometric graphics general similar to those of Ultima Online and Diablo II. Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle, a “prequel” is 150 years before the time of Lineage, was released in 2003. To date, the franchise Lineage has attracted 43 million players. Lineage Eternal, a suite will be fixed after Lineage and will be the last game of the Lineage series.
In May 2011, NCSoft has announced that due to non-profitability of North American servers will be closed June 29, 2011.
